(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):„Modelling", i.e. the demonstration of a procedure to be learned, is a main component of the „cognitive apprenticeship" theory of instruction. This contribution studies whether „modelling " would be effective during a following self-directed learning in a computerbased case-study. The topic of the program is calculation of costs in the context of cost accounting in business administration. Dependent variables were number and quality of occuring failures as well as durations and sequences of problem solving. As a possibly intervening variable self-efficacy was recorded. Subjects were twenty adult apprentices of business administration of a big German Company. Results show, that the calculation problem has been solved much faster after „modelling", although the gain of time is less than the time required for „modelling ". There were no differences concerning number or quality of failures. Self-efficacy shows a negative correlation with reporting problems in the Start phase of the case study and with the use of local help functions integrated in the learning environment. (DIPF/Orig.)
