| Abstract (German): | Theoretische Forschung wird als spezifischer Modus der Wissensproduktion untersucht, der üblicherweise durch bestimmte Unterscheidungen Konturen gewinnt. Nach einer Sondierung unterschiedlicher (2.) Theorie- und (3.) Forschungsbegriffe werden (4.) drei verbreitete Unterscheidungen beleuchtet, die bei der Bezeichnung theoretischer Forschung und ihrer Spezifik zumeist im Spiel sind: die Abgrenzung von (4.1) empirischer, (4.2) historischer und (4.3) pragmatischer Forschung. Die These ist, dass die Spezifik theoretischer Forschung nicht in ihrer bloßen Abgrenzung von jeglichen Bezügen auf Empirie, Geschichte und Praxis besteht, sondern darin, dass in ihr diese - sehr wohl vorhandenen - Bezüge rekontextualisiert werden und damit eine veränderte Rolle bekommen. (5.) Im Ausblick wird die Frage gestellt, welcher Preis mit der Anerkennung theoretischer Forschung als Forschung verbunden sein könnte. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | Theoretical research is examined as a specific mode of knowledge production that usually takes shape through certain distinctions. After an exploration of different (1) notions of theory and (2) of research, (3) three common distinctions that are usually involved in the designation of theoretical research and its specificity are examined: its distinction from (3.1) empirical, (3.2) historical and (3.3) pragmatic research. The thesis is that the specificity of theoretical research does not lie in its mere demarcation from any references to the empirical, to history and to practice, but rather in the fact that these - very well existing - references are recontextualized in it and thus acquire a changed role. (4) In the outlook, the question is posed as to what kind of prize might be associated with the recognition of theoretical research as research. (DIPF/Orig.) |
