(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):In Germany, debates on learning and education and their respective political concepts usually develop out of their particular institutional contexts - i.e., discourse on kindergarten, schooling, higher education or vocational training. Each adhering strongly to their internal logic and ignoring the other instances of education and learning and their systemic transfers, it is impossible thus to appreciate sufficiently the multitude of dimensions and the complexity of various spheres of life and learning. However, if an idea of education and learning is based on competence and transgression of institutional limitations, they acclaim everyday learning as one of the most important if not even the crucial manner of learning. This 'other side of learning' must come to the fore in our cognition, and its inherent potential hitherto veiled must be fathomed anew. Everyday learning seen in this light could become the key variable in the formation of social inequality. (DIPF/Orig.)
