Was also kann Gesundheitsbildung leisten? Abstract (English):This article shows how the understanding of illness and health has changed, namely from pathogenesis to salutogenesis, i.e. away from a concentration on illness to health or preservation of health. It presents medical (historical), anthropological and philosophical perspectives on health. What is noteworthy today is that despite the change in significance, only a small fraction of government funds for the health care system is used for prevention instead of treatment. Thus what can health education achieve? And what concept of health must form the basis of it? The author argues for health education that is not an extension but rather a holistic process. This refers to a positive health ideal oriented to prevention that does not forget the existential dimension of health in the anthropological and philosophical sense. (DIPF/Orig.)
