Abstract (German):Der Beitrag beschreibt traditionelle Verwendungsformen des "Guten" in Erziehungstheorien. (DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):The author describes traditional uses of "the good" in educational theories. It is maintained that, historically, the Platonic good relates to theories of the soul which were queried by sensualism following John Locke. Locke's theory of learning dissolves the inner locus of the idea of the good and develops a public alternative to paternal education. This concept is taken up in the systematic discussion: the general in pedagogics is linked with public procedures of moral negotiations which have to be presupposed in all attempts to combine education with the good. A plural conception of the good results from the political Constitution of societies, which have to respect educational theories if they claim democratic Standards. In this sense, the absoluteness of the good would be nothing but a necessary self-directed Standard. (DIPF/Orig.)
