Abstract (Englisch):A consortium from Hamburg University provided evaluative and academic support to the Hamburg school pilot project named EARA (involving the testing of newly-structured forms of training in the context of the training consensus of 2007-2010). The school pilot project evaluation was divided into a summative and a formative part (see EARA 2012, 11 f.). In the context of the formative evaluations, intensive curricular development work was carried out which was characterised by a close co-operation between the academic support and the pilot schools. This paper presents the theoretical foundations of the joint curriculum development in the EARA school pilot project. These have been comprehensively implemented in co-operation with the vocational school for office and personnel management in Bergedorf for the occupational role of office administrators and communications specialists. In this paper, firstly, the key challenges of working closely with schools in curriculum development is presented in the context of the learning approach using areas of learning, in order to, in the second section, describe the approaches to solutions which were delivered by the EARA school pilot project. The specific challenges were: (1) a changed curricular developmental logic, (2) the necessary curricular reconstruction of areas of learning, (3) the difficulties of competence development which looks at the whole overarching process and (4) the required dovetailing of the process and the system perspectives in the learning situations. The suggestions for solutions to these challenges led to the concept of the Hamburg competence matrix and are presented using the example of outcomes from the EARA project. The paper concludes with a weighing up of the successes of the project and the needs for further research.
