Abstract (English): | Although humor is given more space in recent decades in foreign language learning, there are still immense shortcomings. The introductory article is to help reduce deficits in humorous teaching and learning. Starting from an overview of different types of humor and theoretically based explanations (for instance incongruity-, superiority-, relief-theories) humor is considered as an integral part of the learner’s motivation on the one hand and communication skills on the other. The theoretical foundations as well as the considerations of the specifics concerning foreign language teaching and learning make it possible to describe practicable objectives, functions, selection criteria and guidelines for the use of humor. Instructional examples illustrate the theoretical und practical discussion. (DIPF/Orig.) |
