Abstract (English): | In the first part, social conditions for the expansion of formal education for women in industrialized and developing countries are described. In the second part, the history of formal education that started in Europe is depicted. Formal education is then grouped into three categories: university education, higher education for girls and popular education for girls. In the third part the author concludes that discrimination of women is evident in all parts of the world. In some parts, where inequality in formal education was reduced, i. e. in some industrialized countries, it is still quite evident in training or in the labour market. Where inequality in those fields was reduced, i. e. in some socialist countries, household work still remains women's domain. In short, unequal chances in formal education make up only one of the many forms of inequality based on the criteria of Sex. (DIPF/Orig.) |
(DIPF/Orig.) |
