(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):For more than a decade now, there have been governmental programs to enhance public funding for export-oriented commercial operations in the educational sector in Germany. At the same time, data regarding this field were collected and studies were launched that have, however, not yet been taken into consideration in educational research. To take stock of what has been achieved so far, three of these government incentives, first launched in 2001, are presented and data available on the form and extent of German education export is evaluated. This analysis is carried out against the background of the debates on the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), because this set of agreements, drawn up by the World Trade Organization and under negotiation since 2000, regulates education export. Findings are then related to the discussion on international and transnational educational spaces in comparative educational research. (DIPF/Orig.)
