(DiPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):This study is about 1446 teacher students and it is part of the project "Efficacy in German Teacher Education" and focuses on the question whether uncertainty about becoming a teacher is related to different motivational profiles. Based on cluster analyses different motivational profiles have been identified. About a fourth of all students are characterized by a minor pedagogical motivation and a minor motivation related to school-subjects. On top of that the very same students consider their decision to become a teacher as a less than an ideal solution. The decision to become a teacher is not based, as expected, on a fit between personal qualities and personal abilities on the one hand and anticipated demands related to profession and qualification on the other hand. These findings are discussed with reference to stress or coping research and other consequences for teacher education. (DIPF/Orig.)
