Abstract (English):Both in research on the motives for the choice of career among students in teacher training and within the framework of the empirical determination of personal starting positions among future teachers, preliminary pedagogical experience is considered a relevant variable for teacher training. Thomas Lerche, Sabine Weiß, and Ewald Kiel in their article entitled "The Myth of Previous Pedagogical Experience", published in the Zeitschrift für Pädagogik, 59(5), pp. 762 - 782, however, contradict that relevance, referring to the results of their own study and arguing that there are neither any empirical results nor any research efforts substantiating such a significance. In this reply, theoretical substantiations as well as more and most recent empirical findings on the significance of (previous) pedagogical experience for the choice of the teaching profession and for teacher training are set against the alleged unmasking of previous pedagogical experience as a myth; furthermore, the study is criticized with regard to both its design and its lack of validity.
