Abstract (English):This article investigates musical participation in grade 7. Four profiles of musical participation reflecting the degree of the children’s musical participation as well as their subjective well-being with respect to music, will be differentiated further by a qualitative analysis of written answers to open questions. These questions were part of a bigger survey for which we gathered data to investigate musical participation among students in secondary schools. Based on the capability approach, the analyses reveal that musical participation cannot be reduced to the classical dichotomy of participation and non-participation. By characterising the four profiles, it is instead possible to paint a multifaceted picture of the children’s individual perspectives on their musical participation. (DIPF/Orig.)
