Abstract (English):Throughout history, Jihadist Anasheed are not the first attempts to incite violence through musical culture. However, the Jihad propaganda has reached new levels, not so much in terms of their narrative, but more particularly in terms of the sheer quantity of material being disseminated via internet videos (set to Anasheed) and also in terms of its extremely brutal content. This paper discusses how these combinations of sound, image and message can be viewed as a cultural text. In doing so, varying approaches of cultural studies, in particular the so called cultural turns, are referenced. Thus, we can illustrate the limitations of ethnically fixated viewpoints. Instead, it becomes more effective to use the insights which cultural studies provide as impulses to solve a more general problem in education that is also a challenge in the area of music education – namely, youths who are prone to violence. Ultimately, the question posed is how we can constructively understand and deal with the reality that music can be a key factor in the development and potential radicalisation of personal and cultural identity.
