Abstract (English):In this article we present early findings of a review study about the use of discourse analysis in music education research. The review study is part of a research project on discourses of academization and the music profession in higher music education (DAPHME). Discourse analysis and comparable terms label a range of approaches sharing a view of language as constructing reality as well as being socially constructed. The approaches differ in their theoretical backgrounds and in their empirical methods. We developed possible categories of comparison and put them to the test by investigating four examples of discourse research in the context of the question: How can the different approaches help explain the processes of academization in higher music education.
