(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | In this article the results of a survey of parents with children with Down’s syndrome (N= 140) using the parental stress questionnaire (ESF) are presented. In comparison with the questionnaire’s standard sample, differences in parental stress and role restrictions between the populations are analyzed. Furthermore, social support and a satisfactory parental relationship are examined as possible coping factors. The results indicate higher stress levels and more feelings of restriction in the population of parents of children with Down’s Syndrome. A satisfactory parental relationship can be identified as a predictor for lower levels of parental stress, whereas social support cannot. (DIPF/Orig.) |
