(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | This introductory article deals with the notions and concepts of continuing education, especially regarding the field of teacher education. Firstly, we map and structure the terms that are in use in a German-speaking setting. The second approach to professional development consists in the context of higher education and the professional setup. Finally, these two perspectives – the notions and concepts as well as the framing in higher education and the teaching profession – lead to a conclusion. The aim of this article is to sketch a map for locating the conceptual approaches of the following articles within a bigger picture. This is an indispensable step when it comes to discussing continuing education as it is neither institutionally nor conceptionally definite. Shaping continuing education has also consequences for shaping initial teacher education. (DIPF/Orig.) |
