Abstract (English):Sprouting Entrepreneurs was originally developed for disadvantaged rural schools in the Eastern Cape province, South Africa. The project was recently extented to urban/rural schools in Gauteng province and beyond. It centres around the concept of the school-based Entrepreneurship Learning Garden. Learners plan their garden creatively, plant, overcome challenges, harvest, market and sell an edible product together. They tackle key areas of entrepreneurship education, defined as spotting opportunities and turning ideas into action through which financial, social, cultural, civic and ecological value is created. Additional learning outcomes focus on healthy nutrition and food security, gardening as a vocational skill and personal development. Sprouting Entrepreneurs combines the Entrecomp framework with the capability approach and emphasises a focus on non-financial value creation in entrepreneurship education. (Authors)
