Abstract (English):The subject of this article is how an international orientation has become a main component of education at Austrian educational centers and how it is currently being implemented. The authors trace the path of the internationalization of educational centers from the creation of Austrian educational centers at the start of the twentieth century according to the Scandinavian model to the accession of Austria to the EU in 1995 and the new perspectives associated with it to current projects. Presenting selected examples, they illustrate the diversity of international cooperation as it has been cultivated by the educational centers for many years. A final look into the future makes it clear: The internationalization of adult education is becoming increasingly important in Austria so we can learn from each other across borders and thus be able to meet the global challenges of our time.
