Abstract (English): | Self-organised circle dialogues like class councils are supposed to trigger democratic participation in schools. Teachers are assigned an equal and advising part in these councils. But there are many studies that query the claim of participation in school organisation and point out paradoxical structures of professional acting. In this article the author will use structural approaches to pedagogical professionalism to scrutinize professional acting in class councils in an empirical manner. Based on results of a qualitative research study about class councils in primary schools, the author will disclose ambivalent practice and its potential for a transformation of the role of the teacher in circle dialogues.
