(Autor)
Abstract (English):Correlation as a figure of thought is a form of knowledge, which has its central foundation in the Marburg School of Neo-Kantianism. In addition to Georg Simmel and Richard Hoenigswald, who will be dealt with in this article, also Hermann Cohen, Jonas Cohn, Ernst Cassirer and Helmuth Plessner belong to this school, to name but a few. What they all have in common is a way of thinking and reasoning which emphasizes the primacy of the relationship of correlates involved in a correlation. The correlation based on a theory of science concept that is believed to further insights into the relationship between, not the substance of, correlates. Departing from the knowledge brought to light by existentialist philosophers (phenomenology) the approach of correlation philosophy puts first the act as an expression describing the relationship of the correlates. In this distinction, historical concepts of relational approaches (relation as a category in Aristotle or Kant) are also distinguishable from correlative concepts because the correlation means the mutual interdependence of the correlates involved, while the relation can perceive this relationship without mutual interdependence. In this perspective, the article will outline the specifics of correlative theory. It is designed to enrich the discourse on educational theory. (Author)
