Abstract (English):In the debate on quality and quality development in schools the significance of teacher collaboration is hardly controversial in practice. Contrarily the theoretical conceptualisation and empirical measurement of the teacher collaboration is not in the least consistent. In the article task characteristics and requirements of teacher cooperation derived from school effectiveness and school development research are applied to the criterion-referenced measurement. Data base for analysis is a teacher survey in 158 secondary schools in the state of Hesse and the canton of Zurich. The results show different levels of teacher collaboration corresponding to the tasks and requirements of the social organisation of schools. The differences between school types and between the countries reveal that organisational conditions and standards of schools are less significant than often expected. (DIPF/Orig.)
