Abstract (English):The central question of the article is whether evaluation can contribute to the development and the improvement of research in educational science. Starting from the assumption of a link between diagnosis and construction, the author states a number of deficits in the present practice of evaluation. In general, however, he concedes that the methods and indicators usually applied in the evaluation of educational science reveal meaningful information, yet not without pointing to the need for special specifications typical of the respective disciplines, – such as, for instance, teacher training. But so far, with regard to educational science, it has not been empirically substantiated that evaluations are not only informative but also have a stimulating effect in offering certain practical conclusions.
