Abstract (English):The contribution describes a personal view of the author concerning the empirical research on learning and instruction in the nineties. He realizes a move of the focus of research from the classrooms to other fields of instruction. A favored topic of empirical research has been "media in instruction", but those studies were often restricted to mere evaluation. Some methodological problems concerning new paradigms (constructivism, situated learning) of instructional research remained unsolved. Nevertheless progress has been made during the last ten years in several areas of research. Especially criticized are shortcomings in the German teacher education: there is a deficit in conveying theories and findings of educational psychology. Claimed for the future are better conditions for classroom research, more studies investigating the integration of instructional media and the development of standards to improve the comparison of evaluation studies.
