(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):The problems and the weaknesses in mathematics and science education made transparent by the TIMS study are the reason for initiating the pilot program. Eleven so-called modules which refer to typical problems in mathematics and science lessons are being developed within the framework of the pilot program. These modules are connected with the way problems are presented, with handling pre-knowledge, with how to treat mistakes, with relating the subject matter to schooling and the other subjects. The program also aims at developing procedures to insure quality in the subject groups and in the schools cooperating in the network. The 180 schools nationwide participating in the program are receiving scientifically based suggestions, advice and support from the program initiators. The article describes the basic Situation, the fundamental concept, the contextual focal points and the organizational structure of the program. It presents the different questions from the accompanying research including how the program is being received, its effectiveness and the problems arising through implementation. The article concludes with a report about preliminary experiences and results. (DIPF/Orig.)
