Abstract (English):In order to explain the status of youth and the changes of their living conditions, this article deals with the concept of young people 'living in parallel worlds'. These transformations are twofold: firstly, the economizing and commercializing of their everyday life is shown; secondly, young people at work are observed. Today's young people thus tend to oscillate between a dependent existence (as a student) and an independent disposition of a free financial budget. They live a student's life but are doing side jobs (regular work) at the same time. Their coping with these 'parallel worlds' means that the young people live their life in family, with peers, at school, with media and so on. Side jobs are relevant for an additional income and open up a different world of experience. (DIPF/Orig.)
