(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | This article focusses on a methodological question in the young discipline of historical research in childhood and socialisation. It aims at introducing scientific parental diaries as a promising source for historical research in this field. Two outstanding collections of diaries are presented for discussing this proposal: one case study concerns the collection of Johann Heinrich Campe, an enlighted educational reformer (1800); the other case study recalls the extensive diaries of the famous psychologists Clara and William Stern (1900). Relying on these well documented studies the author discusses some methodological possibilities and pitfalls of this type of historical source. (DIPF/Orig.) |
