(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):The article takes up the present discussion about youths' aloof attitudes towards the political system. With reference to an ecological developmental theory the article focuses on the role of school and the experiences of participation and respect made within school. Central hypothesis is that a positive student-teacher-relationship as an aspect of school quality correlates with various characteristics of political identity. This is tested as well for individual as for class related perception. Database is a sample including 15 l0th grade classes from six different schools within an East German school authority district. The sample covers a wide range of various school tracks and school types. The results show significant correlations between student-teacher-relationship and various characteristics of political identity. There is a clear connection between student-teacher-relationship on the individual level and trust in political institutions and contentedness with the political System. For perception on school class level the student-teacher relationship correlates stronger with cognitive aspects, political interest and the importance of political activity. (DIPF/Orig.)
