| Abstract (German): | In der Pädagogik gibt es eine lange Tradition, derzufolge der Historiker auch praktisch "wirken will" (Dilthey). Darauf versteht sich ein nicht geringer Teil historischer Arbeiten in der Pädagogik auch heute noch. Dieses Verständnis historischer Forschung wird hier "Applikationshermeneutik" genannt. Ihre Analyse läßt es ratsam erscheinen, ihr eine Alternative zur Seite zu stellen, die die Differenzen, Ambivalenzen und Mehrdeutigkeiten der Geschichte offenhalten will und den Anwendungsgedanken pädagogischer historischer Forschung in den Hintergrund rückt: Zentral für pädagogische Historiographie ist die Kontextanalyse statt einer ästhetisch motivierten Sinnbestätigung. | Abstract (English): | In pedagogics, we have a long tradition of historians desiring their work to be of practical impact (Dilthey). Even today, a large number of historical studies carried out in pedagogics is based on this approach. This understanding of historical research is here referred to as "application hermeneutics". The analysis shows that it seems advisable to add an alternative to this approach which maintains the differences, ambivalences, and ambiguities of history and which moves into the background the idea of the application of pedagogical historical research: the core of pedagogical historiography ought to be formed by contextual analysis and not by an aesthetically motivated Validation of its purpose.
