Abstract (German):Die von Jonas und Lévinas entwickelten Ethiken eines Diesseits bzw. Abstract (English):The ethics of this world and of the beyond of existence developed by Jonas and Levinas contain both implicit and explicit ideas concerning the relation between education, "Bildung", and ethics that are in need of a pedagogical investigation based on education-theoretical arguments. It is shown that the far-reaching ethics propagated by Jonas tries to gain its normativity from a metaphysical interpretation of the knowledge of modern science and that, in this, it postulates a primacy of existence over Obligation which overstretches the purview of pedagogical responsibility well over the limits of our knowledge and abilities, turning it into a responsibility for the entire world history. Levinas, on the other hand, with his sceptical ethics arguing in favor of a primacy of Obligation over existence, develops a critique of existence-ontological and -metaphysical ethics of responsibility. In its search for a "beyond of existence", this ethics concedes priority to the question of the otherness of theyou and the I over any kind of substantialist-teleological or science-based normation of ethical and pedagogical Obligation. The article concludes with the question of whether and how the issue of the otherness of the you and the I discussed by Levinas may be extended and complemented by the issue of the otherness of the world which he ignores and which is neglected by Jonas.
