(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):For the establishment of a certain order in school life, implicit rules for interaction and communication are of importance both in the context of instruction and in dealing with members of the peer group, - rules which usually become a subject for discussion once disturbances occur. The existing ethnographic studies of classroom culture at secondary boarding schools and on the peer culture at the Laborschule Bielefeld explore the pragmatics of the implementation, negotiation, and modification of such rules. It is shown that contrary to the general claim to a standardization of actions achieved by rules, their content and their application are interpreted in a differentiating and context-bound manner. The two codes of interaction of the communicative order of instruction and of the peer culture overlap and constitute one another reciprocally. (DIPF/Orig.)
