(DIPF/Orig.)
Abstract (English):The present study investigates, whether interactive elements in computer-based learning environments are used and if their use contributes to the acquisition applicable knowledge. New constructivistic theories of instruction propose interactive elements of computer-based learning programs that foster learning: (1) The learners should be stimulated to articulate how they deal with the presented problems; (2) They should be offered help in form of an expert's comment on the problem; (3) They should receive coaching to correct their mistakes. THYROIDEA is a problem-oriented multimedia-program from the medical field which comprises the instructional characteristics mentioned above. 34 fourth year medical students worked with the program during a clinical course of Internal Medicine. The results show that the learners frequently used the interactive elements. It is, however, noteworthy, that only those elements promote the acquisition of the learner. On the other hand, the passive reception of the expert's comments, the amount of user-input, and the answers to multiple choice questions do not correlate with the acquired knowledge. (DIPF/Orig.)
