Abstract (English): | This article overviews the development of the Togolese vocational education from the beginning in colonial times (1900) up to the present. It focuses on reforms of vocational education and the development of student numbers. Afterwards, the current disciplines and educational achievements at vocational and technical schools are presented. In addition, the educational participation of girls and young women at vocational and technical schools is illustrated considering the numbers, the area of education and the discipline. Despite government efforts, as it is argued by the author, the need for action regarding vocational education as well as educational participation of girls still persists. (DIPF/Orig.) |
