(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | This project studied the music education practices and ideologies of music schoolteachers in Austria. It was designed as a qualitative, comparative study using the grounded theory method and incorporating the theory of formal and informal (music) learning as a sensitizing concept. The results of the study can be summarized in two basic theses: The work of a music schoolteacher includes not just the giving of music lessons, but also being aware of music practices (learning worlds), “designing” these practices together with the parties involved, and implementing them to facilitate music learning. The recognition, acknowledgment, and design of music learning worlds are directly related a teacher’s goal concepts, to overall ideas about music, and to the resulting definitions of music education goals within the music school.
