Abstract (English):In the light of societal change, culture cannot be envisaged as a "closed sphere". A popular term today is that of transculturality, which suggests notions of opening and of crossing borders. Transcultural processes are closely related to the new information and communication technology, which plays the role of a driver and a behavioural setting for such processes. In the context of the digital media, transculturality occurs in the form of flows, differences, as a hybrid form of life and as the question of membership, to name but the key concepts without excluding the necessity for further terms to describe transcultural processes. Education must address these key concepts if it is to prepare the individual for the questions and problems of modern society. It supplies assistance to the individual in his/her attempt to understand his/her own life situation and provides visions for educational practice as a "relocation into the open" or the principle of "cultural melange", revealing the thought and action skills on which the modern individual is dependent.
