| Abstract (Englisch): | The author addresses the question as to whether it is possible to identify elements of a "global education system". Surpassing case and country studies, she indicates that the institutionalization of formal education in all of the world's countries can be interpreted as part of the same global process of modernization and social development - despite the fact that regulations on compulsory education, participation in education, or illiteracy rates all vary from country to country. Furthermore, it is also possible to see that education systems around the world, in the process of institutionalizing formal education, have all come under government control, and that constitutional and other legal steering mechanisms have thus become very significant. | Abstract (Deutsch): | Die Autorin geht der Frage nach, ob sich Elemente eines „globalen Bildungssystems“ identifizieren lassen. Über Fall- und Länderstudien hinausgehend weist sie darauf hin, dass die Institutionalisierung der formalen Bildung in allen Ländern der Welt als Teil desselben globalen Prozesses der Modernisierung und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung interpretiert werden kann - trotz der von Land zu Land unterschiedlichen Regelungen zur Schulpflicht, unterschiedlichen Zahlen der Bildungsbeteiligung oder zu Analphabetenraten. Darüber hinaus lässt sich feststellen, dass die Bildungssysteme in der ganzen Welt im Zuge der Institutionalisierung der formalen Bildung unter staatliche Kontrolle geraten sind und damit verfassungsrechtliche und andere rechtliche Steuerungsmechanismen eine große Bedeutung erlangt haben.
