Abstract (Englisch):This chapter reflect on the role of creativity in the Catholic schools in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking region in the north of Belgium. Through document analysis and study of the literature they reconstruct evolving approaches to creativity in the classroom in the Lemmens Institute and music in Flemish schools in the 20th century. Discussing the international influences and interactions between the Flemish and their surrounding countries over time, they present their regional findings in an international context. This article is part of the anthology European Perspectives on Music Education, Volume 13, addresses topics such as inclusive practices, the role of technology, and teacher education.
