| Abstract (German): | Der Aufsatz legt folgende These zugrunde: Die liberale Öffentlichkeit des 18. Jahrhunderts legitimierte den Gedanken einer allgemeinen Bildung, die aber im 19. Jahrhundert zunehmend staatlich organisiert wurde, in dieser Organisationsform seit der Reformpädagogik in die Krise geriet und schwerwiegende Akzeptanzprobleme hervorbrachte. Die These wird an den drei Entwicklungsstellen historisch rekonstruiert und mit dem Bildungsmonopol des Staates konfrontiert. Als Prognose ergibt sich aus der Analyse, daß die öffentlichen Aufgaben der allgemeinen Bildung in Zukunft eher zu-, als abnehmen, für diesen Zweck aber eine Liberalisierung der staatlichen Verschulung erforderlich erscheint. Die (weltweiten) Krisensymptome der Gegenwart, einschließlich der Psychologisierung der Öffentlichkeit selbst, lassen sich kaum anders bewältigen. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | The author elaborates a historical thesis with systematic implications: In the late 18th Century liberal intellectuals developed the concept of liberal education, a general formation for everybody without restrictions due to tradition or social class. During the 19th Century liberal education was increasingly organized by the State, - a System that has been criticized by the movement of progressive education since the end of that Century. The analysis leads to the prediction that public education will become more important in the future, but it will be necessary to liberalize State control of the school system. Otherwise it will be difficult - if not impossible - to manage the increasing problems of the educational system (worldwide), including the ongoing psychological privatization of the public itself.
