Abstract (English):The special interest in the various aspects of "meaning" as found in musicology, linguistics and philosophy; the aims of music education at letting the students share the didactic process by reflexion on various levels; societies demand for its members to be able to realize the interactions of music and society and to accept existing antagonismus; all these are good reasons for choosing "meaning" as a subject-matter of music-teaching in secondary education. Through the study of texts and by performing and analysing music, the various possibilities of stressing either the syntactic, the semantic or the pragmatic dimension of semiotic process can be shown, theories of communication and hermeneutics can be introduced as means of approach. The manifold ways in which meaning has found musical expression throughout the centuries can be studied. By coordinating performance and reflexion, students will become increasingly aware of problematic aspects. Careful employment of material is necessary to ensure intensified work on certain aspects, as for instance gaining historical insight in order to recognize the intended meaning of music of the past.
