| Abstract (German): | Volkshochschulen sind die bedeutendste Institution öffentlich geförderter, kommunaler Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung in Deutschland. Diesen Stellenwert haben sie aufgrund ihrer flexiblen Institutionalform und ihrer flexiblen Bildungsplanung, die es erlauben, jeden Bildungsbedarf aufzugreifen und den Austausch zu gesellschaftlich relevanten Themen zu fördern. Ihre häufig im Zentrum stehende Expertise für Allgemeinbildung führt allerdings dazu, dass ihr Angebotsschwerpunkt berufliche Weiterbildung meist in den Hintergrund rückt. Eine Programmforschungsstudie am Deutschen Institut für Erwachsenenbildung und der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin hat eben diese Leistungen der Volkshochschulen herausgearbeitet, analysiert und begrifflich zu fassen versucht. Der Beitrag präsentiert zentrale Ergebnisse aus den Jahren 2007 und 2017, die sich auf vier Volkshochschulen und deren insgesamt 1.666 Angebote beziehen. In diesem Zusammenhang diskutieren die Autorinnen auch, welche Bedeutung berufliche Weiterbildung an Volkshochschulen künftig haben könnte, sowie weitergehend, welches Potenzial die Programmforschung für die Programmplanungspraxis hat. | Abstract (English): | Adult education centres are the most important institution of publicly funded, municipal adult and continuing education in Germany. They have this status because their flexible institutional form and their flexible educational planning allow them to respond to each educational need and promote exchange on topics of societal relevance. Yet their expertise in general education, which is their main focus, frequently leads to continuing vocational training being relegated to the background. A research study of programming at the German Institute for Adult Education and Humboldt University of Berlin has attempted to elaborate, analyze and conceptualize these services of the adult education centres. The article presents the main findings from 2007 and 2017 in reference to four adult education centres and their total of 1,666 programmes. In this context, the authors also discuss what significance continuing vocational training at adult education centres might have in the future and - going further - what potential programme research has in the practice of programming.
