Abstract (English):In his "thoughts on idiocultural music education", the author from the Netherlands points out how the assumption that music indeed is "what people (already) do" has fundamental implications for "doing music education". Based on the idea of individuals as musical idiocultures, he accentuates music education as an inclusive process of paving the way for each student to find his or her musical voice in a diverse world. This article is part of the anthology European Perspectives on Music Education, Volume 11, which focusses on music practices in the classroom, diversity in music making, learning and teaching and praxeological perspectives on music education.
