| Abstract (German): | Im Beitrag nimmt der Autor den Abriss der Milch-Mokka-Eis-Bar "Kosmos" in Cottbus zum Anlass, um den Umgang mit den Hinterlassenschaften der DDR-Geschichte Ostdeutschlands zu thematisieren. Dabei schlägt er eine Lesart vor, die diesen Umgang in Zusammenhang mit Prozessen der nichtso-Anerkennung und damit korrespondierenden Kämpfen um Zugehörigkeit setzt, welche auf rassistisches Wissen zurückgreifen. Diese Prozesse, und eine spezifische Virulenz rassistischer Artikulationen, führen häufig dazu, Rassismus als spezifisch ostdeutsches Problem zu markieren. Dies, so zeigt die folgende Betrachtung, ist einerseits stimmig, denn auch die DDR schloss an rassistisches Wissen und koloniale Strukturen an und bediente sich dieser in ihren internen und externen Beziehungen. Es ist andererseits aber auch problematisch, insofern bundesweiter Rassismus aus dem Blick gerät, ebenso wie aktuelle Prozesse des unproblematisierten Bezugs auf den deutschen Imperialismus und die Neueinschreibung rassistischen Wissens. Diese Verflechtungen zum Thema zu machen ist bedeutsam, um aktuelle rassistische Mobilisierungen besser kontextualisieren und auch in Bildungssettings entgegenwirken zu können. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | In this article, the author takes the demolition of the milk and mocha bar "Kosmos" in Cottbus as an opportunity to address how the legacies of East Germany's GDR history are dealt with. In doing so, he proposes a reading that places this treatment in the context of processes of (non-)recognition and corresponding struggles for belonging that draw on racist forms of knowing. These processes, and a specific virulence of racist articulations, often lead to marking racism as a specifically East German problem. This, as the following observation shows, is on the one hand coherent, because the former GDR did indeed further inscribe racist knowledge and colonial structures and made use of them in its internal and external relations. On the other hand, it is also problematic insofar as nationwide racism is lost from view, as are current processes of unproblematized reference to German imperialism and the reinscription of racist knowledge. Highlighting these interconnections is important in order to better contextualize current racist mobilizations and to be able to counteract them in educational settings. (DIPF/Orig.) |
