| Abstract (German): | Der Beitrag untersucht ehrenamtliches Engagement ukrainischer geflüchteter Frauen als intersektional strukturierte Praxis von Lernen und Empowerment im Kontext von Fluchtmigration. Ausgehend von feministischen Machttheorien, intersektionalen Ansätzen und Konzepten informellen Lernens durch ehrenamtliches Engagement richtet die Studie den Blick auf Praktiken der Selbstermächtigung jenseits dominanter Vulnerabilitätsnarrative. Empirisch basiert der Beitrag auf teilnehmender Beobachtung sowie leitfadengestützten Interviews mit zwölf ukrainischen Frauen in Süddeutschland. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass freiwilliges Engagement als „Bewältigungsbrücke“ wirkt: Es fördert psychische Stabilisierung, soziale Verankerung, informelle Lernprozesse und Selbstwirksamkeit trotz fortbestehender struktureller Barrieren. Zugleich wird die Ambivalenz des Engagements sichtbar, das zwischen Empowerment und Überlastung oszilliert. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | This article examines the voluntary engagement of female Ukrainian refugees as an intersectionally structured practice of learning and empowerment within the context of forced migration. Drawing on feminist power theories, intersectional approaches, and concepts of informal learning through volunteering, the study focuses on practices of self-empowerment beyond dominant narratives of vulnerability. Empirically, the paper is based on participant observation and semi-structured interviews with twelve Ukrainian women in Southern Germany. The findings demonstrate that volunteering acts as a “coping bridge”: it promotes psychological stabilization, social anchoring, informal learning processes, and self-efficacy despite persistent structural barriers. At the same time, the study highlights the ambivalence of this engagement, which oscillates between empowerment and overburdening. (DIPF/Orig.) |
