Abstract (English): | Cognitive activation describes a dimension of instruction that promotes opportunities for learning about a specific subject in the classroom. The transitory character of music, as well as the fact that music is a cultural practice that is tied to certain types of music acquisition and instruction, yields teaching patterns that are somewhat different from the task and problem based teaching of mathematics. This qualitative video study shows that playing music at the beginning of a lesson can provide a very teacher centered opportunity to implicitly experience concepts such as musical form, thus leading to more autonomous and demanding learning processes. However, deep processing opportunities also depend on the degree of teacher centeredness and the immediacy of hints to the solution of the music‐making task. (DIPF/Orig.) |
