| Abstract (German): | Das Internet ist ein beliebtes Medium im Alltag von Kindern und Jugendlichen. Ziel dieser längsschnittlichen Studie war es, die Zusammenhänge zwischen psychosozialer Anpassung, sozialer Integration und Art der Internetnutzung darzustellen. Hierzu werden Daten einer Fragebogenstudie mit 484 Kindern und Jugendlichen an Berliner Grundschulen zu zwei Messzeitpunkten präsentiert. Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das Ausmaß an Fehlverhalten als Indikator der psychosozialen Anpassung vorhersagt, ob Kinder und Jugendliche das Internet zur Bewältigung ihrer persönlichen Probleme nutzen. Zudem wurde deutlich, dass für Mädchen die positive Integration in die Familie die Zusammenhänge zwischen psychosozialer Anpassung und Internetnutzung mediiert. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | The Internet is becoming a popular media tool for children and adolescents. The goal of this longitudinal study was to describe associations of psychosocial adjustment, social integration and the way children and adolescents use the Internet. This study makes use of data collected within a questionnaire study with 484 children and adolescents at elementary schools in Berlin, Germany. Results show that the degree of problem behavior, as indicator of psychosocial adjustment, predicts whether the children and adolescents use the Internet to cope with their personal problems. In addition, analyses show that a positive integration into the family mediates the association of psychosocial adjustment and Internet use for girls. (DIPF/Orig.) |
