(DIPF/Orig.) |
Abstract (English): | The author examines whether and if so, in which sense international reform pedagogics of after 1890 constituted a new era. On the basis of a comparative analysis of relevant literature he first reveals the modernization claims of different reform-pedagogical authors, then goes on to describe the continuation of the tradition, and finally juxtaposes typical reform-pedagogical semantics with the actual modernization effects within the educational system. This thesis defines a paradoxical state of affairs: Highly traditional motives and concepts of nineteenth-century pedagogics are transfered both theoretically and empirically into new contexts of metropolitan experience without losing their reformatory power.
