| Abstract (German): | Der wilhelminische Schulstaat ist wiederholt „vermessen" worden. Doch die auf „Fortschritt" durch Herrschaftssicherung, Loyalisierung und Disziplinierung bedachten Erziehungsansprüche im Wilhelminismus sind nicht nur in der systemischen oder hierarchischen Verknüpfung von Gesellschafts- und Schulstrukturen, in schulpolitischen Erlassen, didaktischen Zielsetzungen, Konferenzprotokollen oder Schulbüchern, also auf der „klassischen" Spur bildungsgeschichtlicher Untersuchungen zu erfassen, sondern auch in mentalitätsgeschichtlich aufschlußreichen Zusammenhängen jugend-, sport- und militärpolitischer Initiativen. Selbst die ästhetische Inszenierung und Sakralisierung des Wilhelminismus in zeitgenössischen Architekturbeispielen oder die national-integrative Fest- und Feiertagskultur zeigen, daß er gesinnungsbildender Erziehungsstaat sein wollte. Dieser Anspruch steigert sich während des Ersten Weltkriegs sogar zu ersten Konzepten einer Staatsjugendorganisation. (DIPF/Orig.) |
| Abstract (English): | The school system of the Wilhelmine era has repeatedly been surveyed. However, the pedagogical claims of that time, which aimed at progress by ensuring control, loyalty, and discipline, may be shown not only in the systemic and hierarchic connection between social and school structures, in school-political decrees, didactic objectives, conference proceedings, or school books - i.e., by following the "classic" track of educational-historical research - but also in youth-, sports- and military-oriented political initiatives that are instructive regarding aspects of historical mentality. Even the aesthetic Staging and sacralization of the Wilhelmian era in architecture and the national-integrative culture of festivals and memorial days demonstrate that this was supposed to be an educational state meant to further a specific ideology. During the First World War, this claim even led to first concepts of a state youth-organization. (DIPF/Orig.) |
