| Abstract (German): | Ausgehend von der Kampagne der EU zur „Europäischen Unionsbürgerschaft“ werden, auch anhand von Beispielen, unterschiedliche deutsche Übersetzungen von „European citizenship“ diskutiert. Anschließend wird der einschlägige Paragraph im Vertrag von Maastricht, in dem erstmals „Unionsbürgerschaft“ genannt wird, mit den entsprechenden Artikeln der Verfassung des Deutschen Reiches von 1871, der „Weimarer Verfassung“ von 1919 und dem „Grundgesetz für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland“ von 1949 verglichen und Parallelen aufgezeigt. Im Schlusskapitel wird bedauert, dass der Entwurf der Europäischen Verfassung durch das negative Votum in Frankreich und den Niederlanden im Jahre 2005 gescheitert ist, weil der Vertrag von Lissabon nur einen stark verwässerten Ersatz darstellt. | Abstract (English): | About European citizenship [Europäische Unionsbürgerschaft] of the European Union, different German translations of „European citizenship” are discussed on the basis of examples. The relevant paragraph in the Maastricht treaty is citied in which, for the first time, „European citizenship” is mentioned and compared with the appropriate articles of the Constitution of the German Reich of 1871, with the „Weimar Constitution“ from 1919 and „The Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany” from 1949 and parallels are shown. The concluding chapter regrets that the European Constitution failed by the negative vote in France and the Netherlands in 2005, because the Contract of Lisbon represents only a largely watered replacement.
