| Abstract (German): | Historische Erwachsenenbildungsforschung steht im Spannungsfeld zwischen der kritischen Auseinandersetzung um Theorie und Praxis der Erwachsenenbildung aus anthropologisch-sozialhistorischer Perspektive, den legitimatorischen Begründungszusammenhängen im Rahmen der Etablierung einer wissenschaftlichen Disziplin und interessegeleiteter Selbstvergewisserung. Dieses schlägt sich nieder in multiperspektivischen Zugangsweisen und Ansätzen und der Intensivierung historischer Forschung. In einer historisch-kritischen Orientierung ist Erwachsenenbildung nicht nur in ihrer instrumentellen Funktion zu begreifen, sondern, durch die Reflexion historisch rekonstruierbarer Alternativen, auch als Korrektiv gegenüber Legitimations- und Anpassungszwängen. | Abstract (English): | Historical research on adult education has to be considered within a field defined firstly, by a critical discussion of the theory and practice of adult education from an anthropological socio-historical point of view, secondly, by legitimating foundations within the framework of the establishment of a scientific discipline and, thirdly, by interest-guided self-assurance. This manifests itself in multi-perspective approaches and analyses as well as in the intensification of historical research. Within a historical-critical orientation, adult education is to be grasped not only in its instrumental function, but also - through the reflection of historically reconstructive alternatives - as a corrective against legitimisation and adaptation pressures.
