Abstract (German):Immanuel Kant hat den Menschen einmal mit einem Stück Holz verglichen. Ein solch´ krummes Holz, wie der Mensch es sei, könne nicht ganz gerade gezimmert werden. Nur eine Annäherung an die Idee, so Kant, sei möglich. Mit anderen Worten: Über Erziehung kann der unvollkommene Mensch und damit die Menschheit insgesamt nicht hinreichend verbessert werden, um das Ziel – die Vollkommenheit – zu erreichen. Der Grund liegt im mangelhaften Ausgangsmaterial. Pädagogik hat in ihrer Geschichte immer wieder versucht, Einfluss auf dieses Ausgangsmaterial zu nehmen. Pädagogen haben also nicht nur erzogen, sondern aktiv Menschenzucht betrieben. Heute, im Zeitalter der modernen Biowissenschaften, ist es möglich, auf die Gene eines ungeborenen Menschen gestalterisch einzuwirken, d.h. für besseres Ausgangsmaterial zu sorgen. Wird damit ein urpädagogischer Traum wahr? (DIPF/Autor)
Abstract (English):Immanuel Kant once compared people with a piece of wood. The man is a crooked wood that could not be made completely straight. Only an approximation of the idea would be possible. In other words: Through education, the imperfect man and thus humanity as a whole can not be improved sufficiently to reach perfection. The reason is the lack of raw material. In its history, education has always tried to influence this material. Educators have therefore not only educated, but people actively breeding. Today, in the age of modern biological sciences, it is possible to act creatively on the genes of an unborn human being, to provide better starting material.
