| Abstract (German): | Der in jüngerer Zeit häufig benutzte Begriff der Selbstsozialisation wird auf seine theoretischen Implikationen hin geprüft. Es wird befürchtet, daß dieser Begriff das wechselseitige Konstitutionsverhältnis von sich bildendem Subjekt und sozialisatorischer Interaktion einseitig akzentuiert und die fragwürdige Annahme nahelegt, ein aus sich selbst wirksames Selbst könne die Ausbildung der grundlegenden Kompetenzen des sozialen Handelns lenken. Bedenklich ist auch die Gegenüberstellung von Selbst- und Fremdsozialisation. Die in den theoretischen Auseinandersetzungen der letzten Jahrzehnte erreichte Überwindung von Prägungs- und Selbstschöpfungsvorstellungen scheint gefährdet. Beobachtungen der ko-konstruktiven Prozesse in der Sozialwelt der Kinder werden herangezogen, um grundlegende Annahmen der soziologischen Sozialisationstheorie und -forschung in Erinnerung zu bringen. | Abstract (English): | The concept of self-socialization is examined with respect to its theoretical message. A central concern about this concept is that it conveys a one-sided view disregarding the dialectic Constitution of the emerging self and the socialization process. The concept suggests that an independent self is able to direct the acquisition of competence. Furthermore, the distinction of self-socialization as opposed to socialization by alien others is questionable. The introduction of the concept of self-socialization seems to resurrect ideas of socialization as imprinting the social structure into the individual or as unfolding of an inner program. Observations of co-constructive processes among primary-school aged peers are used in order to elucidate the basic assumptions of sociological socialization theory and research. (DIPF/Orig.) |
